Judges

The University of Cincinnati is honored to have been chosen to host the 2015 American Mock Trial Association's Undergraduate National Championship Tournament at the Hamilton County Courthouse on April 17-19, 2015. In its 30 years of existence, AMTA's National Championship Tournament has been held in only five cities. Cincinnati is humbled to be its sixth host city.
By way of background, over 600 teams from universities across the country participate in the American Mock Trial Association each year, wherein they litigate a fictitious case. Each trial consists of opening statements, three witnesses per side, and closing arguments. Throughout the trial, the students also make and argue objections. Each tournament consist of four rounds, except for the National Championship Tournament. The NCT has a fifth round, wherein the top two teams in the country will compete for the right to be crowned the 2015 National Champion. The field at the NCT will be comprised of those 48 teams who have advanced from both Regional and Opening Round Championship sites from across the country.
The University of Cincinnati has hosted Regional Tournaments for seven straight years; something that is a great honor and one that we have gladly accepted. This year, the University of Cincinnati was chosen to host this prestigious National Championship Tournament based upon our track record of hosting top notch events, with wonderful facilities and knowledgeable judges. In that regard, many of you reading this have helped to make previous Cincinnati Regional Tournaments a success. Without your assistance, we would not have been awarded the right to host this event. With that in mind, we once again need judges, attorneys and advanced law students to judge the rounds at the 2015 NCT. That is where you come in.
We need volunteers! All that is required of you is that you show up at the time(s) you are scheduled to judge. Each round will last approximately 2.5-3 hours. You do not need to prepare in advance, nor do you need to bring anything with you. The tournament will be held on the weekend of April 17-19, 2015 at the Hamilton County Courthouse. There will be one round on Friday afternoon, two rounds on Saturday and one round on Sunday morning. There are four total rounds and you can judge as many as you like. There will be a brief judges meeting prior to each round to inform you of everything you need to know and answer any questions you might have.
Parking, breakfast and lunch will be provided all weekend free of charge to judges! Two public speaking CLE credits are available for Kentucky attorneys! A one hour CLE presentation will take place on Saturday during lunchtime for Ohio attorneys! If you are interested in judging, please click on the link above or below and take a few moments to register. In addition, if you know a colleague/friend/spouse, etc. who might also like to judge, please pass this information along. We can never have too many judges!
We truly appreciate the time and effort put forth by those who volunteer to judge and so do the future lawyers who compete in these events!
