The University of Cincinnati is taking a hiatus from hosting an American Mock Trial Association tournament after hosting the 2015 National Championship Tournament.

7th Annual Event - February 22-23, 2014

Picture
The University of Cincinnati is pleased to once again be hosting an AMTA Regional Tournament in the 2013-14 season. A list of teams that will be participating at this year’s Cincinnati Regional Tournament along with which teams (A, B, C or D should your school have more than two teams) have been assigned from your school, will be posted in the late Fall. Per AMTA policies, it is crucial that each school rank its teams honestly based on their performances this year. AMTA relies upon each program to be honest and forthright in its evaluation of its own teams as the Regions have been painstakingly power balanced. Per AMTA rules, any manipulation of this scheme (such as deciding that a veteran-laden team from last year’s top-10 national finish is really the "D" team) is a sign of bad-faith and deception and completely undermines the fair-play and collegiality for which AMTA stands.

Competing Teams:
1024 - Richmond A
1119 - Dayton
1136 - Ohio Northern
1159 - Miami B
1160 - Miami C
1209 - Cincinnati A
1210 - Cincinnati B
1221 - Vanderbilt C
1232 - Bellarmine A
1233 - Bellarmine B
1240 - Kentucky A
1241 - Kentucky B
1345 - Ohio State B
1346 - Ohio State C
1396 - Kenyon
1426 - Xavier
1509 - Indiana A
1510 - Indiana B
1574 - Northern Kentucky
1593 - Toledo
1606 - Murray State
1650 - Northwestern D

Team Registration:
To register your team(s) for the Cincinnati Regional Tournament, you simply need to click here and input your team(s) information. Per AMTA rules, confirmation of your team(s) attendance at our Regional is required within 30 days of the release of team assignments. Please do so as soon as possible so that I do not have to hunt you down to confirm that you are attending the tournament.

Individual Registration:
Once again, AMTA is requiring that each student on your roster be individually registered with AMTA. Please direct each of your participating students here to register themselves well in advance of the tournament.

Team Roster(s):
Pursuant to Rule 3.10, each team must submit their roster 21 days before the start of the sanctioned tournament in which it is participating. Programs with multiple teams must fill out and submit a separate form for each team. To upload your team roster(s) for the Cincinnati Regional Tournament, click here.

Schedule:
The Cincinnati Regional Tournament will once again be held at the beautiful and historic Hamilton County Courthouse located in the heart of downtown Cincinnati, Ohio. The courthouse is located at 1000 Main Street, Cincinnati, Ohio 45202. There is ample garage and street parking around the courthouse as very little occurs downtown on the weekends. Be careful when parking at meters as some are free on weekends and some are still running, even on Sundays. The schedule for this year’s tournament is as follows:

Travel Information:
Cincinnati is easily accessible from Interstates 71, 74 and 75. In addition, for any teams which may require airline travel, the Greater Cincinnati/Northern Kentucky International Airport is your best bet.

Hotel Information:

Beginning on January 7, 2014 through January 31, 2014, you can reserve rooms at the Radisson Hotel in Northern Kentucky at the reduced rate of $99.00 per room. For this rate, you will get free parking and free internet access, something most downtown are hotels do not offer. Additionally, the hotel offers a daily breakfast buffet for $9.00 per person, and is within walking distance of McDonald's, Burger King, Frisch's and Waffle House. Best of all, the Radisson is a less than five minute drive from the Courthouse.

To reserve your rooms, please contact the Radisson at (859) 491-1200 and ask to book under the "UC Mock Trial" block. For more information about the hotel, please check their website here.

Interested in Judging?

The University of Cincinnati is looking for volunteers to judge the annual Cincinnati Regional Mock Trial Competition. This year's tournament will once again be held at the Hamilton County Courthouse.

As always, parking, breakfast and lunch will be provided all weekend free of charge!

If you are interested in judging, please take a few seconds and click here to register for as many rounds as you would like.

If you know a colleague, friend, spouse, etc. who might also like to judge, please pass the information along to them. We can never have too many judges!

We truly appreciate the time and effort put forth by those who volunteer to judge and so do the future lawyers who compete in these events!

Thanks!
